I got what I wished for!

WOW.. What a Beautiful day!!! wish I had a picture to show you.. So at 10:30 today, we started out from the loft for a ride around Tiburon... We couldn't have asked for better weather... First we step outside dressed in warm clothing, from being so used to bundling up to do anything since November of last year. But we didn't need it!! We took our time today and made our way to the Golden Gate Bridge... as I approach the bridge, I'm a bit winded! Guess I should have wished to be in better shape from being so stationary all winter. Hibernation I like to call it. But it was good to be back on Rocky (my bike).

Next we stop for lunch and think... there is a passenger ferry with in 100 feet.. maybe we should hop on and head back to SF... But after lunch we got our 2nd (or was it 4th) wind and decided to tackle the Paradise Drive loop. At the end of the loop is the back side of Camino Alto, a nice hill, not too big, not too small.. but just right.. The back side is shorter than the front but steeper, but luckily it goes by quickly at 4 mph! Any slower and I swear I'd fall over. Then the wonderful downhill.... so we now in Sausalito and decide that we will take the ferry back to SF, instead of riding up the LFH. The ferry terminal in SF is about 2 miles from the loft so it's pretty close. All in all a great riding day..

Miles today: 40.5
Riding time: 3hr 35 mins
Max Speed 30mph
Average 11.3.. (see I am out of shape!)

And the BIGGEST News of all... my odometer flipped 3000 miles today!!! YIPPEE!!! I NEVER in a million years thought I would put 3000 miles on a bike!!

Thanks for reading... More soon!

Rain Rain Go AWAY!

Well... Here is it February 3rd and it's still raining in the SF Bay Area... So needless to say.. No riding here. Well, not for me anyway... I hate riding in the rain. Think we'll go pick up an indoor trainer today. :-( Boring.. BUT at least it's riding of some sort.

So I looked at my training log from 2006. I rode 866 miles between February and May and had a very successful ALC last year. So I'm still hopeful the same will happen this year. I did 5 training rides in February 2006 and it's only Feb 3rd... so I can get that many in (hopefully).

Anyway.. Just a quick update!! More SOON!

Training in Mountain View

Well.. As much as I say I'm not training until January... It seems I find myself a training rides... ha! Shelly wanted to do something that was NOT in Marin... as nice as Marin is... you honestly can't do every ride there... it does get boring. So Thanks Shelly for taking us out of our comfort zone. :-)

So, Mike, Shelly, Mark (first time rider Mark # 1742) and I hopped onto Caltrain and headed south for Mountain View. The further we got from the city, the better the weather was... Mountain View was spectacular!! Did the normal stuff... stretched, safety speech, etc... then off we go... a nice gentle climb and before we knew it we were at the lunch stop. wow that was quick... went another 3 miles and turned around to head back to the start... It was a fun day and made new friends...

My stats:

Miles: 30.75
Riding Time: 2 hrs 27 mins
Max Speed: 32.6
Average 12.5

See ya next time

Official Training Season Kick off!

Ok.. Here we go! The official training season kick off was held October 28 2007. Since I haven't ridden in a while... I decided to do the 20 mile ride. But start at the house and ride from there. It ended up being 35 miles.... So a nice day... The official ride took us from Sports Basement to Mill Valley.

It was a beautiful day... ended up riding with MIke, Chris & Andy and had the best time!

The stats:

Miles: 35

Riding Time: 2 hrs 55 mins
Max Speed: 33
Average speed 11.9 (lack of training this is falling!)

So there you have it... While ALC considers this the "Official" start.... I'm not going to seriously start training until January. I hope I don't regret this decision... haha..

Thanks for reading.... More later!

A quick tib loop

So.. I'm not calling this the beginning of the training season... But it was a nice ride. 22.5 miles in 1hr 35 minutes.. An average of 14.2 miles per hour. It was a good day... I was a little concerned when I climbed the first hill and got winded! YIKES... I need to get on these 2 wheels more often. But it was fun and felt very good to be back on the bike!

Tour de Tahoe - September 9 2007

Well... I guess it's a start... This past Sunday Sept 9th, I hopped on my bike for a ride around Lake Tahoe. We started out our ride at 7:30am and finished at 3:30pm. It was a beautiful day in Tahoe and the lake was just as stunningly beautiful. If it weren't for those darn hills! ha! The ride was spectacular in viewing but it did kick my butt. I forgot my bike computer so no real stats. Sorry about that... But it was a great ride, dispite the pain. ha!
